I have both a BCD996T and BCD396XT scanner. I set the programming up using the BCD996T. When uploading the same programming to my BCD396XT, the conventinal channels won't lockout based on GPS position due to it having the GPS settings for the groups which were never populated for the 'T' scanner.

Is there an option I am missing to use the System GPS setting for all the group in that system for the XT scanner?

You need to fill in the coordinates for both groups and systems.  The XT doesn't understand system coordinates, and the T doesn't understand group coordinates, hence why you need to enter them in for both.

What about trunked systems … does the XT understand coordinates entered on the site screen?  If there are coordinates entered on both the site screen and group screens am I correct to presume that the group will unlock only where that groups coordinates overlap with the sites coordinates?

Thats right, at least as how I understand it.. it is all explained in the manual.
