Hi Assaf,

Will this run natively on the iPad 2? In other words, full screen size?

Skype should handle the audio until such time that you add it in. Very cool; looking forward to trying this when it becomes available. Thanks.

Not yet, there is a lot of work to be done to develop both the server and client versions. Maybe late December at the earliest.

I tried for a january release but it just isn't ready for prime time. Now work demands all my time for 2 months so we are looking at April.

Just curious, is this still in development?

It is still in development but there have been some issues trying to make scanner control work smoothly over 3G. The basic concept works though and I do plan to pick up on it again very soon.

Hello,

I have been looking for a way to control my scanners via iPad (IOS) and I already use FreeSCAN but, in addition to yours, I was wondering about a bit different approach...

Using a serial to WiFi connector (such as here: http://www.serialio.com/products/mobile/wifi/WiSnapAAA.php) you could control a single scanner over WiFi on a single IP. On the other hand, you could control multiple scanners via multiple IPs. This would allow a mobile setup as well as a home setup.

I design a lot of embedded electronics and write a lot of embedded software (both professionally for over 20 years) but never for IOS. If this is something you would like to try as a joint venture, I would certainly be willing.

Just a thought but I believe many people would really like this approach as well as your current one. I envision a small interface that would handle multiple serial connections with a single WiFi (b/g/n) "access point" that the IOS or any other computer for that matter could talk to. I am sure I could design the electronics to fit in a box no bigger than the size of a small access point... In fact it would look much like an access point with multiple DB9s.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

Kind Regards,
Jeff Swan

How's the development coming along? I can't wait for this to be out, even if in very beta form I'd love to test it out!

Right now it's still a bit rough around the edges and it doesn't operate that smoothly over 3G. Plus there is no security protocol to speak of. However, I am going to work on it this weekend. I know there is a strong demand for this product, so maybe if I just get the security side of things hammered out it will be good enough for a 1.0 release.
