I have a Uniden BCD996XT. For some reason when I click "Start Upload" I get the following error message:

Quote
Critical Error; Invalid response code or insufficient resources, aborting channel programming

Whats happening here?

Here is the information:

FreeSCAN version 2.06
Uniden BCD996XT
Windows 7

Check your comm port configuration. It needs to be set both in FreeSCAN and the scanner.

Ok, how do I know which one to set the front and/or rear port to?  4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200 ?

Just use the front port if you have the uniden serial cable, and set the scanner and FreeSCAN to 57600.
