I downloaded this and just have one question.
Once I download my favorites list to the program and make my changes and write it back to the HP1,and I update the database all the times, does this mess up my favorites list or not?
The programs here are great and I always look for improvements.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Dave. You can do HPDB updates, they will not affect favorites uploaded by PowerPatrol. BUT.. If you use Sentinel to upload the update instead of PP, and Sentinel's favorite lists are different then what is on the scanner, and you tell it to overwrite, then your favorites list will be wiped out.

Is there anyway that we can just download our favorites list and add or delete frequencies
and then upload it back to the home patrol?
I see that it downloads the complete state database and then we have to go and pick our state and county
and then change our favorite list.
Thanks,
Dave

I still would like to know if I can just use power patrol to change my favorites list without it loading up the complete database when I
hook up the scanner?
Also how do I use Power Patrol to up date the database as opposed to using the Sentinal software?
It really isn't documented anywhere.
Thanks,
Dave

Oh sorry I thought I responded to your first question. There is no way yet to download just the fav list, but you an upload almost just the fav list bak. Not sure what you mean though by having to go back and pick the state and county.

Eventually I'll add a feature to update the DB without needing sentinel. PP is considered to be so easy to use that any documentation could make it more confusing with all the reading and such, so no documentation is available.

I believe the options when I go into the Power Patrol under file is to
load the database from disk or read from HP1.
When I tell it to read from HP1 it loads the entire USA database and then I have to go to my state and then load it.
I'm trying to figure out if the load database from disk, does it just load from the file on the computer and that contains my favorite lists?
So if I use Sentinal to update the database I can't write it to the HP1 as this will overwrite my favorites, is this correct?
But I can save the updated database to the computer and then use Power Patrol to change what I need to change and then upload these to the HP1?
Thanks for your help.

I too am a little confused when using PowerPatrol. I thought it was going to RR/Uniden and retreiving the latest database updates but now I'm not so sure.
This morning I checked the database version before updating with PowerPatrol and after the update, the version did not change.
I used Sentinal to update and it did change.

So what I would like to know is, does PowerPatrol go out to RadioReference/Uniden and retrieve updates??? Or must I still use the Sentinal software for that.

Thanks,
Jack

OK Assaf:
I just got the HP-1 and since I am a long time Freescan user for my other radios, I also downloaded PP.
I understand from reading the forums (& RR) that I need to update the HP-1 DB using Sentinel. I then read the HP-1 into PP and save it to disk as a backup.
I find creating and updating favorite lists much easier in PP than Sentinel, and I also save them to disk as well as to the HP-1.
The first time I loaded from Sentinel to HP-1 and then hp_1 to PP I got that same error message on the favorites, although it did load all the lists correctly.  While still hooked up to the computer, I went to the HP-1 card and deleted everything from the favorites folder then downloaded favorites only back to hp-1. I have not had a loading error from the hp-1 since.

How do you want me to report bugs or suggestions for improvements/features while I am playing with PP ?
Keep up the good work. I love your programs.
