We have a new version now with several improvements.

Changelog
-------------------------------------------

0.09
----
-Added Support for Avoid Lists
-Due to popuplar demand, you can now create systems directly in favorite lists,
but it might be dangerous, should be OK though.
-Added ability to create agencies
-Fix: Unable to read from HP1 with certain removeable drives present
-Fix: Some minor display issues
-Other bug fixes and improvements

*When locking or unlocking out conventional systems,
you may notice that all conventional systems in the
county become locked/unlocked. This is not a bug,
it is because the HP1 doesn't understand how to
lock out only one conventional system.
If you wish to be selective, lock out individual groups,
or create agencies instead. This does not apply
to favorite lists.

I'm happy to say 0.09 read my HP1, although it had a hard time with my Favorites list. Said it couldn't read the state ID (I think) on the first trunk system it found. Luckily, I have been saving to both disk and HP1, and I was able to load the exact same data from the "disk" version (saved to the default PP save location) without issues, and put it into the HP1.

Are you sure that the avoid logic cannot do (whatever it was I saw was mentioned here the other day)? As far as I understood the .hpd file's format (loaded it into OpenOffice as a .CSV file, delimiter set to "Tab", all is well), every element, from system, to C-Group/T-Group, to C-Freq/TGID, all can be set to avoid. I've done so by manually editing my favorites_000001.hpd file myself...

Speaking of T-Groups, can I suggest putting on the "wish list" a way to order the groups (either conventional or talkgroup groups)? Maybe "sort alphabetical" might be an option, but I would like to be able to manually move them around myself. For example, I put "Fire Dispatch" and "Fire Tactical" before "EMS Dispatch", "EMS Talk", and "Hospital", then "Emergency Ops", "Interop", and then "poh-leece District 1" (thru "8"), "poh-leece Common", "poh-leece Special", etc. - currently it appears PP does nothing with the sort order, which is somewhat OK with me. However if you add groups, they are simply appended to the bottom of the list - perhaps I want to create a new "Fire" group and want to put it in between "Fire Tactical" and "EMS Dispatch"... just sayin'...

And, in another "speaking of", speaking of creating new groups, it would be nice if I could copy the location data from an existing group into the newly created group.

I realize this program is still in very early stages, and apologize if I'm getting ahead of the plans. Just making observations - if I should hold them to myself, please let me know. Smiley

You can avoid individual conventional systems on favorite lists only. On counties, you can only avoid all or none of the conventional systems in a county.

I'll see about the wish list stuff. Can you tell me why group order would be important? AFAIK groups can't be scrolled through.

I can avoid any element on the scanner via either touching it on the screen and selecting "Avoid", or editing the .hpd file to make column E (at least, as per when it is loaded into OpenOffice or Excel) "On" instead of "Off".

By "System", I mean the first line of the scanner; by "Group", I mean the second line (perhaps better described as "Department"); by "Frequency" or "TGID", I mean the third line (described by the HP1 as "Channel"). And I can scroll through any of them at my leisure, by tapping them once to "lock" (hold) them, then tapping the right side to access the "Prev/Next" menu options.

I've attached an older (pre-PP) copy of my favorites list. View it in a text editor; take note that "242 Porcupine" (line 41, CFreq 209640) is set to be avoided. So is group ("department") 11424, on line 403, even though the individual group members listed immediately below it aren't - the group avoid makes the individual channels' avoid status irrelevant. These were set this way by choosing "Avoid" on the HP1 and then "Make Permanent" (but it could have been just as easily done by editing the favorites file itself).

Also note that the groups in trunk system 204 (Calgary Digital Radio) are not in the same order as they are in the RRDB/HPDB. I put them in a specific order in my favorites file so they would be scanned in that order and easily accessible should I need to get to a specific talkgroup. And, as mentioned above, you can scroll through any item - systems, groups/departments, or frequencies/talkgroups/channels, by holding on them and selecting "Prev" or "Next".

I'm aware of how avoiding works. What I was saying is that in a county you can not selectively avoid conventional sytems. You can in a favourite list. BUT I never knew it was actually possible to scroll through anything.

Well, I just switched over to the full database, away from my favorites list, and avoided a county/system, then avoided a department in another county, then avoided a single channel in yet a third county/department.

I think I see where the disconnect is.. in the HP1, there is no such thing as a "conventional system" within a county, at least, not with this version (Paul O. had said something about revising the way the HPDB categorizes things, but that hasn't happened yet). I believe you and I are not talking about the same thing when we talk about a "system" - I'm talking about the largest group that is able to be toggled on and off in the HP1 - via the top of the 3 lines on the display.

All I'm saying is that every thing that can be set on the HP1 (like avoids on each of a system, department, or channel), should be present/configurable in PP.
