Forum Error Message

While I solved the whole logging out dillema, the "NEW" message graphic still doesn't appear. I get the following:
Quote
Not Found
The requested URL /forum/Themes/default/images/english-utf8/new.gif was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Any ideas?

WHERE are you when you see this error? I hovered over the NEW in the listing that showed this new message and it was nothing near what you were showing. I got to mine using the "show me new messages since last sign on" or something similar to that. From the main forum page, close to the top by your name and glyph/icon/picture/whatever it's called. <g>
We'll get you to Firefox YET! <wide grin>

I get the exact same thing in IE6, but on FF the new icon is appearing properly. Typing in the address manually to IE, it produces a 404 error. When I get home I'm going to look in the file directory and see if i can find that file.

Precisely. On new messages, I get the red "X" graphic placeholder. I can still click the placeholder and read the new messages, so the mechanics "behind" the graphic work fine. But when I copied the URL for the graphic into the address bar and sent it out, that's where I got the 404 error. Hope that makes sense.
I'm sure FF is a fine program, I'm just so used to IE (I use the Google toolbar religiously, and I'm not sure if it interfaces with FF or not.) Maybe I'll breakdown and download it just to check it out. I just hate to have to redo all my Favorites...I have a boatload of them, many of them nested!

Favorites? Have I got a lesson for you! <g>
When you install Firefox, it will ask if you want to convert your Favorites from IE...bring them in, look just like what you're used to. <g>
Now, if that's not enough for you, how about checking out Foxmarks? That is a Firefox addon, which lets you synchronize your bookmarks (favorites) in ALL your Firefox browsers! I have the same set of bookmarks on ALL the computers here at home AND the ones I use at work! Now THAT is pretty nifty to me.
I do think that the google toolbar will work with Firefox, but don't use it myself so can't say for sure. Even if it DOESN'T, I would imagine that there would be some addon that would get close to duplicating it. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of add ons for Firefox). Go nose around their website and see what I'm talking about. Really is a pretty nice browser and sure is a LOT more secure that IE.
You decide yet if *I'm* sold or not? <chuckle>

In the mean time, I looked and it appears that there IS a Google tool bar for Firefox. <g>

More like convinced freeloader I suppose.
Have been running it for the longest time and really like what I see. LOVE the tabs and how you can have many open at once and easily switch back and forth. Just seems to "fit" better for me. Last you'll hear from me trying to SELL YOU Firefox. (maybe <wide grin>)
Assaf,
saw the "new" icon this morning when I checked for mail instead of just a word saying new, so it looks like something is different. I would have SWORN I had been seeing the icon before, not sure what had changed.

IE7 has tabs as well. It was one of the best innovations in browsers to come down the pike in years. I use it all the time, and can't conceive of browsing without the feature.
Still, I may look at FF just to see how it looks. With almost a terabyte of storage, I don't suppose I should be too stingy when it comes to trying new programs.

You're going to love this about face. <g>
I'd hold off on Firefox for the moment, I've just learned that it has a rather dangerous exploit in the most current version (2.0.0.12) - has to do with scripting and there's a pre-existing add-on that deals with that kind of thing so it's not THAT big a deal but you have to know about both and take action.
