I got an e-mail from Uniden on March 3rd stating that there would be a version upgrade for the BCD996T soon.  That's all I've gotten so far but the update/upgrade sounds like it will fix several of my grips about the 996's poor audio on P25 systems.  Has anyone heard when this will be released?

I wonder if this will cause any problems for FreeSCAN?  You know how Microsoft is about breaking programs when they come out with a new OS.

The update is not out as yet (last I heard).

There IS tons (almost literally) of <ahem> "observations" about how it might work on Radio Reference and in the groups on yahoo for 396 (especially) and 996 (some I think).

I think for that reading, I would suggest more than one beer to make it easier to digest and keep your humor about it all.

According to the first announcement, it was to be out "RSN" I think they gave a couple weeks as a ball park. After that, there were some issues in the testing that they wanted to correct and it was pushed back some. No word on how much that some was. <g>

They are supposed to do another mailing when it is available, so keep watching your email.

Heard earlier today that it may be 'end of the month' now.

UPMan suggested this afternoon that it will now be the beginning of April.
