Freescan 2.10

396XT scanner (never got far enough to connect)

I'm getting the following error when I try to install Freescan on my XP computer:

Seems like this bug is causing issues.  I think you are the 10th person to report this. I'm going to see about getting a fix out soon.

Update:  I was at my daughter's over the weekend so iItried to install Freescan on her computer. I was able to get all the way through the install, but got the same error message when executing the software. One option was to cuntinue anyway, which I did and the program seemed to run. I did not have a chance to work with it but it looked like it was going to work. Hope you guys can figure out what is causing this and make a patch for it.

I'm going to work on this issue.. I haven't been able to reproduce it on my systems so its been a bit tricky to track down.

I think I am on to this problem. Can you try installing this version, and running it with the command line "/nosound" to see if still gives the popup? Thanks.

First I unistalled the existing copy, then I ran the file you sent, but I forgot the /nosound command. It's strange because there was no Install process the program just started with no error message. I connected the scanner and when I executed the Virtual control I got this error message:

I tried to run the exe file from the Start Run line with the /nosound command (Freescan.exe /nosound) but all I get is a message that this is not a valid file name. Did you mean from the DOS prompt?

If you uninstall it, the support files get erased as well and it won't run properly. What you can do is reinstall, then create a shortcut to the version I sent you and under the shortcut properties you can add /nosound to the command line. You should also be able to run it from the start run menu, just make sure to tell it what directory to look for. For example if you extract the zip to c:\fs, it should be something like \fs\freescan /nosound

Did as you instructed. Program runs but gets this error when executing Virtual Control of the radio

You did a reinstall first right?

Yes, and please note that this is a completely different error message than the original one, and could be an additional unrelated problem.
