I would like to know why when I open FreeScan and the main screen come up and I highlight a system it shows a section called GPS (15/996 only)and then a checkbox
that says enabled and shows the Longtitute and Latitute with the degrees and range showing.
When I go to another screen showing the groups and such, there is a section in the upper right hand corner with GPS enabled all the lat. and long. are empty.
Why isn't the Longitute and latitute brought over?
Thanks,
Dave

One is for systems, the other is for groups.

I got that, but why doesn't the same information show up on the other screen?
Isn't the Lat. and Lon. the same?
What am I missing?

Yeah they are the same, but different. Groups and systems don't share the same information, it is unique.

I think the key is that the different scanner models handle the GPS info differently. Note the label (15/996 only) and I think at the Group level is says (XT models only) or something like that.

I just programmed about 500 groups/sites with GPS info for a cross country trip. My 396XT does not use the location info at the System level. It uses it at the Group level (or both the Site and Group level if it's a trunk system). I also have a 996T but haven't used it with a GPS so I can only assume that it uses the location info at the System level and not the Group.

Someone feel free to correct me if I don't have that right.

Thanks for your file. I can now see what the differences are between systems and groups.

Is there anyway that the program can put the gps coordinates in both the system and group sections?
I have to look at the screen that says gps (15/996T only) and go to the group screen and enter the same coordinates for the different groups.
This is very time consuming and the chance of entering the wrong coordinates is there.
Any ideas on how to do this?

Yeah I have been thinking of simplifying it to allow for easy copy and paste. In the mean time if you are importing it from rr, you should contact the db admin since they should be putting those coordinates in.

is it possible that these are conventional frequencies and they don't have gps coordinates?
I would still think that they would have repeater systems that would transmit the frequencies to the various departments, ie: poh-leece, fire, ems.
It would be great if on your first screen, where it says gps enabled, you could just ask if we wanted to copy these coordinates to the second screen and have them copied there.
I'm not a programmer so haven't a clue what this would entail.
You still have a great program.
Thanks,
Dave
