I have version .9M and after downloading the scanner and opening Scanner>Setup Scanner Options and tab Fire Tone-Outs, I noticed that it read the 10 frequencies but it is not reading the tones for Tone A and Tone B.   I have a 396T and I currenty have the 396T in Tone-Out Hold mode so I can verify that the tones are in memory.  Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks

I don't have a 396T to test against but looking at the code I don't see anything that would cause this issue. Would you mind downloading your scanner settings and attaching the .996 file to here?

Here's the file.  I read my 396T with all boxes checked on the right side of the download screen.  Attached is the .996 file.   Tone-outs 1-3 should have Tone outs A and B.   4 should have tone-out in the A position.   9-10 should also have tone-outs in the A and B position.  Let me know if you need anything else.  I appreciate you looking at this.  Great program!!!

Sorry to re-hash an old topic but I did notice the same thing with the latest version of Freescan (2.05) under windows XP 32bit and Windows 7 64 bits.
I tried a BCD396XT and a BR330T and Freescan will only download the frequencies and name but not the Tone A or Tone B.
The reverse is also true in the sense that uploading the scanner options that contains fire tone-out will not overwrite Tone A and Tone B in the scanners if they are set at 0 in Freescan.

Is this a known problem?

Thanks,

I tried to reproduce the problems you mentioned but couldn't. I don't have the same scanner you do, but I tried on a 996T and 346XT and everything seems to be working. It is also virtually the exact same protocol. Are you sure you have "Download scanner settings" checked?

OK..   I just re-tried with the 330T and only the name and frequencies are showing in the GUI.....  BUT I when I save the 996 file, then open it with notepad++ to see the content, both tones (A & B) are in the data....
So my guess at this point is that the GUI does not populate the fields properly for the Tones because the data is there in the program....
Do you want me to e-mail a copy of my saved Data?

Thanks for this great app btw....

Cheers,
Andre

Oh thanks for that insight, so it might be a problem with saving the files then. I will focus my attention on that for now, I'll let you know if I need the file, thanks!

Hi Assaf,

Here are the exact steps that I executed to see the problem:

-Starting with a 330T that has 10 tone-outs entered, 10 different names, all have the 149.44mhz frequency, all have different Tone A and Tone B sets. (MOH Ottawa region)
-Started Freescan and downloaded scanner data with all options selected (Erase All systems & Freescan first etc...)
-Once done, closed download form and opened scanner option form to access Tone-Out tab.
-In Tone-out Tab every field was visible and populated correctly except the following :
   -Tone A and B -> All are displaying "0"
- Closed the scanner option form
- Chose the save as and saved the downloaded data to a 996 file.
- Closed Freescan
- Used Notepad++ to open the previously saved 996 file.
- Saw that ALL the data for Fire Tone-Outs is present, including the Tone A and B frequencies.
If I re-open Freescan and reload that 996 file, the Tone A and B are still only showing "0".
If I upload to scanner, the Tone A and B are not reset to "0", so I assume that Freescan sends them properly as well.

Hope this help,
Cheers,
Andre

Huh??  I just re-tried with the 396XT and it worked!  I'm positive it did not in the past.......
I'll try to find a recipe to reproduce but I guess you can stop digging until I do....
Sorry for that....

Cheers,
Andre

RE: Fire tone out tones

I have tones programmed in the scanner.
Freescan does not import and display the tones.
The tones are in the scanner upon exporting the system back to the scanner, they just don't show in Freescan.

(It works in BCTool)

Windows Vista Home Basic SP2
BCD 396T firmware 3.02.02
Freescan V2.02

Do you have the box "Get scanner settings" checked when you download?

Yes, all upload and dowload options are checked except "don't download digital freqs to analog scanner"
