ok, in freescan I chose "new system" and named it local, then I chose "new group" and named it group 1 on QK 0, then I put in 9 frequencies.

then I chose "new group" and named it group 2 on QK 1, then I put in 7 frequencies.

is this correct so far?
would the next step be "upload to scanner"?

any info or guidance is appreciated!

You might want to assign a system QK, but other then that, all you have to do is upload the system. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

after I "upload to scanner" how do I scan the frequencies I put in?

I think I'm finally getting the hang of this!

Just hit scan. If the system is not locked out and you dont have a Qk assigned to it, it will scan automatically.
