Guess I go back to scanning when you popped in a crystal and you were on that channel.  Over the years I have stayed rather current with the technology and progessed through a series of programmable scanners, always in the Uniden/Bearcat family.  Well, finally I updated a couple of months ago to the BCD396XT, and I'm still learning all the capabilities of this receiver.  Ever since my BC250D and BC296D I realized that I wasn't going to try to program it by manual input so  I've been using software packages.

I finally got my local system, sites and group aligned the way I want but I've been hitting a small snag.  Seems that I program one particular site I can set up the system, site and groupsand upload to the BCD396XT and the information will be there.  Once I finish with the U/L I save the file in case I need to recall (or add or modify) it.  But when I open the file, I find that 'Trunked System Setup' screen will have all the information but the 'Site Setup" screen will drop the name and the 'Trunked Frequencies' info will all be blank.  Along these same lines, the Group Name will appear but all the data (Display Name, TGID, colour codes, etc.) will be blanked.

I had this happen a couple of time, so I  am hoping that someone may have a suggestion or two and perhaps tell me what I may be doing wrong.

Do you get any errors loading the file?

I'd also be looking for "Forbidden characters" in the names like a comma (,), a quote (" or ') or maybe a semi-colon ( or anything else out of the way like that. Never know when those might come back to haunt you. <g>
