Ok, total noob issue here but... on RR there is an alert stating that my area has gone through an 800mhz rebanding process and I may need to update firmware or have special programming to use my 246.

I know enough to program my systems and what not, but now that this has happened I can not pick up anything other than what sounds like a control frequency. I don't know what I need to do, if anything I can do, to get going again. I programmed the new primary control channels into the 246, deleted old ones and still nothing. I then programmed all frequencies into the 246 and still nothing. What's going on here?

Do I need to update my scanner with new firmware? Is the 246 even capable of receiving the new frequencies?

Any help is greatly appreciated from a noob learning  Huh?

You do need firware version 2.6 for it to work on rebanded systems.. There should be update instructions available if you register your scanner online and then log on to the uniden support page.

Yeah, I downloaded the update and had to change the system to Custom 800mhz.

I got that all straight and now I read that I have to edit the band plan. The guide shows parameters to set, which I did, but all I pick up is what sounds to be control channels again. I'm really lost now. How do I determine the proper Base Freq, lower and upper, the offset, polarity and spacing? And then how many band plans should I do this for and what exactly are these band plans?

Thanks in advance  Wink

Do you have a link to the RR page where this system is at?

This is a page from Uniden explaining how to update the 246. At the bottom of the page a generic graph shows the Band Plan for Standard Rebanded Systems. I input this info to no avail...  Cry

It looks like most of this system has gone to digital so you won't be able to hear to hear poh-leece apparently. It does show analog talk groups but that info may be out of date. If this scanner is stopping on a TGID and giving you the control channel noise then that is probably the case.

I need the 396 huh? Well, that's good and bad I suppose. Bad that I have to spend the money on it but good that I get the power of it.

Thank you very much Assaf
