I am looking for a Mac keyboard and mouse that have the ancient ADB interface. This machine predates USB. Can anyone help me out??
(Yes I know I hate Macs but its very complicated)

Interesting; I had to eyeball it on wiki to see what ADB connectors looked like. Hopefully the pics of the connector and the ADB icon will help ring some bells. Only Apple I had was a ][e, so now you know how old I am... I've only got PC hardware around here, sorry.

fratermus, I actually found out what an ADB connecter is today as well. I looked at the back of the machine and realized there is no way a PS2 connector is going to fit in THAT. Where are you located?
I'm on the other side of the country in Ontario.

I'm in Ontario as well (Toronto), and I have an ADB keyboard and mouse. You can have em if you wanna arrange to pick em up! They were part of my Mac LC475 (you can have that too if you want) Send me an email at brianmwolk[at]rogers.com.

Hmm that sucks. It powered on for me, and I definitely saw a swoosh of white when I turned it off again (alive-like behaviour). You sure it's totally dead? Double-check the contrast and brightness dials (you probably already did that I'm sure). About the battery--if you do get the LC475 working, please wipe out any documents I may have left behind No idea what's even on there. Feel free to use whatever applications are installed though!

I see the swoosh of white as well, and the power LED comes on, but there is no picture. I tried turning the brightness & contrast to both extremes and in between but there is no sign of illumination on the screen, which leads me to believe it might be broken. Not a show stopper though, I have an adapter that lets me plug in a Mac to a PC LCD monitor. Were you able to get a picture on it? Don't worry I won't publish your personal journals without taking a vote as to whether I should first. Hehe just kidding. I will wipe off any documents if I find any. When I get back home I can plug this machine into a working monitor and see whats going on with it. I get the welcome to mac chime and the hard drive spins up but it is not booting the OS and the keyboard appears frozen. Hmm that sucks. Haha... funny! Nope, I couldn't get a picture, but when the clock battery in the computer is dead, you won't get anything! So there was still hope for me that the monitor still worked. There is also a longer-than-normal delay from when you flip the switch to when you hear the chime. Once the battery is replaced, there will be no delay (or at least it will shorten to the normal amount of delay). You say the keyboard is frozen? What do you mean?

The chime actually comes in right away, but the keyboard doesn't respond with lights for caps lock or scroll lock, which makes me think it is frozen. I'm sure most of these problems come from the bad cmos battery. I do know a place where I can get a great deal on lithium memory batteries but won't get to it till monday.
By the way, in that cardboard box I found 4 Apple car window stickers with the old rainbow-style logo. Not sure what I'm going to do with them though. Maybe I will stick some them on of my work PCs to just send the IT dep into a frenzy.

Ok well I put a new battery and a known good monitor with the machine and fired it up. Still is dead other then a chime. Power supply checks out OK, ram eliminated as a culprit, which leaves me to believe the MB in that machine is dead. I took out the hard drive and put it in the "good" mac. Booted up right away and brought up system 7.5.1. Looks like there is all kinds of stuff on there. I will let you know once I start playing with it.

I hooked up the "dead" monitor to the good mac and it came right to life. Go figure...

Another update if anyone is still paying attention - I put in a fresh(er) PRAM battery, ran some contact cleaner through the monitor connecter port, ran it underneath the logic board because there was some slimy stuff that accumulated there, and it came right back to life. So now I have 2 macs.
