Hello,

First of all I would like to say thanks for making this great free program available.  I have switched to using it for all of my latest Uniden scanners.  This may have been asked before, and may be impossible the way the program is written, but I would like to see system management support across different scanners.  What I mean is I have a handheld scanner, mobile scanner, and a base scanner.  Alot of the systems are programmed the same in each scanner.  Whenever I add new frequencies, talkgroups, etc. to a system I would like it to change the other data automatically without having to open the file for each scanner and having to enter the changes in three different places.  In other words if each scanner could read the system data from one location instead of each scanner having its own systems.  It would also be nice to organize systems in folders.  When I travel I create new systems for the areas I'm traveling to and program them in the scanner.  When I return home I delete them from the scanner but I would like to keep the systems on the computer for future use when I might return to that area.  If I could organize them and keep them away from my "normal use" systems it would be less cluttered and easier to organize.

I don't know if any of this is possible and again thanks for the great work on this program.

I can't comment on the possibility of a change in the data for one scanner being propagated to the database for other scanners, but with respect to the travel and home systems, you can do that easily by just saving the data to a file with a different name.  You could, for example, have a home.996 and a California.996.  You would just need to load the particular file depending on which data you wanted to use.

Hey Brandon,

FYI, I use a single FreeScan file for my 396XT, 996XT, and BCT15X. Just wanted to make sure you knew that you can use a single file for different radios. The software recognizes which scanner you are programming when you upload. Of course, some things are not equal, like the 15 not supporting digital, but you can select to not upload digital channels.

It would be nice if there was some way to save certain systems to a different file, so if you wanted to share some of your systems with other, you could selectively do that.

Happy Scanning,

Ben

You can always just create a new file, then use the import function to bring in the specific system you are interested in. Or just DL that specific one one from the scanner. There are a few ways to go about it.

I would suggest just creating one "base file" and using that across your scanners. This way you just have to update that file and upload across the different scanners.

The other thing that I might suggest to go along with this would be to generate "trip files"...say for instance you're going to go to Phoenix, load a system with all the data you need for the trip and save it as Phoenix. Upload before your trip and you can delete afterwards from the scanner. It will still be saved on your computer and for the next trip, just load it in.

So, if you had a blank, new scanner,  you'd load "base" (what Assaf was suggesting) and then for your trip, you'd also load "Phoenix" and be ready.

Delete it when you get back and generate a file for your trip to Denver etc.

Get the idea?
