Scannin every minute of it :)

« on: October 13, 2009, 12:00:20 PM »

Hi all, I used to own a 996t, and will now be getting the 996xt, I downloaded the newest version of freeScan to start getting re-familiar with it. I loaded some systems in and tried to set the system quick keys (on trunked systems)  to find out I can only put them on for the site's in the system. Now please correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you able to give the systems their own quick key as well as the sites on the 996t? Also, why did this change?? I have been out or scanning for almost a year.. thanks for your feedback

Only conventional systems can have QKs on either 996s, and sites get their own QKs. Perhaps you were thinking of conventional systems? Both scanners treat QKs the same way.

The scanner uses quick keys for both conventional and trubking systems.  Freescan is a little buggy. It does not show quick keys assigned to systems in the left side browser window.  Click on the Plus sign next to the system in trunking question and you will see a Simulcast group click on that and the simulcast page comes up on the right side. There you can set the quick key. The scanner will be set up ok not sure why trunk system quick keys do not show up in freescan system browser.

It's designed around the newer line of DMA scanners that only assign QKs to sites rather then trunked systems, hence why it doesn't show up.

The 996XT doesn't assign quick keys to trunked systems.  It assigns them to trunked sites.  Therefore, FreeSCAN is NOT "a little buggy" with respect to this issue.  You are "a little wrong".
