If it has already been reported please disregard.

When loading program to 396XT with 0.9E I get 1 error stating that there was an error setting AGC. I think I saw this already reported, but could not find it again. So just thought I would report it before the new version comes out

thanks

Seeing the same issue.  I think the range of parameters in the software don't match the current firmware in the scanner.

If I download and erase from the scanner first with the AGC set up manually on the scanner and I don't touch it in Freescan, it's fine.

If I alter Freescan AGC params, I get the error and then have to manually set them properly in the scanner afterwards as they get set to something other than what I set them to in Freescan.

Just downloaded .9F and tried to load 396XT and still get error 1 ,error setting AGC, so I then erased
all systems and  settings and while doing this I get error 1, error setting AGC, tried to reload and get the same error. I am lost at present time, will have to set back and think about it for a while.

Might be just something I am doing. I don't have a 396XT to test with so I might need to tweak things a bit more before they start going.

Since I did not mention sooner I think that FreeSCAN is a great program and many thanks to Assaf for creating and maintaining it.

That said, the next thing I tried was to clear memory manually with 2,9,hold then import a new system from RR and install on scanner. Still getting error 1 , error setting AGC, this was a HCRRS system.

Is anyone else is having the same problem or is it just me?

I am new to the 396XT it seems to be scanning ok, so what effect will the AGC settings have?

I find the default settings are fine but some people like to tweak theirs. It affects the volume levels of received channels, so if you have some that always come in a little too quiet or go from too quiet to too loud you can tweak the AGC to help resolve that.

MeanT6,

bcd996xt
FreeSCAN .9F
Windows XP sp2
serial connection

I also have the agc error. Freescan menu Scanner, setup scanner options, advanced, agc control. In my experiments the analog agc settings with negative values are causing the error. If both the resonse time and reference gain are set to a positive number the error goes away.  The digital settings can be negative without getting an error.

fe3o205,

396xt
FreeSCAN .9F
Windows XP sp3
serial connection

Thanks for the info. I tried as you suggested and set analog response to a 1 and analog reference gain to 1 and left digital at zero and as you stated. When I loaded into 396xt I did not get error, thanks .
I don't know what effect ,if any this change will have from both being set at 1 instead of zero but thanks for the quick and helpfull response.

thanks again
