I have recently purchased a Uniden BC95XLT Scanner, I installed the software on my PC w/Windows Vista.

When I try to read or write to the scanner, I get a message that says "THE SCANNER MODEL IS NOT SUPPORTED".

I know that I have downloaded and installed the correct SW from the Uniden website.

I have even talked to Uniden Tech Support, but you know how much help they are.

Can anyone suggest any thing to help me??

Thanks, Bob

Are you using a REAL serial port or a USB -> Serial device? I've found the latter to be problematic (especially from what I've seen reported on Vista). Make sure you have latest drivers for the USB device and you might even try the drivers from the manufacturers web site (find out what chip is in the USB device and go to their web site).

I've seen a lot of folks with Vista and USB2Serial cables that go to another machine (XP usually) and all works well with the same equipment.

Good luck.

I actually bought the USB-2 cable from the Uniden website.

I want to say that I've heard issues with it even, think they went with the "generic" drivers, but not sure of that. You might check the Yahoo groups (I read 996, 996XT, 396 and 396XT groups and am thinking it was there that I may have seen it. Also read RR so that's a possibility also...search is your friend <g>).

IF you have an older computer around, you might try installing on it and see how that works for you. If not, maybe you could talk a friend into borrowing the use of his/her computer for an afternoon (or less if you're quick <g>).
