I have an interesting issue with Freescan version .7G. I'm using it on:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=9.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=jaunty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 9.04"

WINE Version 1.0.1

the program starts fine and everything seems to work except for import from the RR database. I enter my RR username and password and when I press connect, I get:

Cannot connect to Radio Reference. Verify you have entered the correct username & password and that your Internet connection is available.

I know that Internet works through WINE because I can use it for web import from RR on WIN500 with no problems.

Are there any other Linux users using freescan on Ubuntu? Has anyone else seen my problem? If so, how did you resolve it?

Thanks

Also I was wondering if anyone has tried and had success getting 0.9B to run using Linux and the newest version of Mono?  It would be really cool to be able to continue running the newest versions of Freescan on Linux.

Thanks

I have heard someone say they can use the RR import function of FreeSCAN .7g through Wine before, but I haven't tried it myself. So its possible. Also someone once sent me a screen shot of the new version running under Xwindows, although they were having some problems.

The old web service that FreeSCAN .7g & under use to access RR is going offline July 31st, after that no amount of tinkering in any OS will allow the web service to work in that version.

Thanks for the response.  I'll concentrate on 9B and Mono.
