Hi Ya'll.. I'm new here and somewhat of a newbie to using these new scanners. I've used a Uniden BC 760 XLT and a BC 55 XLT but felt I was missing some things so I got a Uniden BCD 396 XT. Think I'm going to need some help using/programming this one but I can see there's a lot of knowledgeable folks here and at RR.
I'd like to know if anyone has used any Speak to Text software. I have "Naturally Speaking" but I think that has to be programmed to your voice and may not understand what comes out of the scanner. I've thought about a digital voice recorder that has voice recognition and somehow plug that into the computer and read it as text.. Any suggestions?
Thanks, CJ
Can I ask what your plans are for this? Not sure I understand.
In any case, had a brief run with some voice recognition software several years ago. Had to read a short novel to it (something from Mark Twain but forget exactly what it was) to train the software to my voice/inflection/drawl/accent/whatever. After that, it did fairly well until one fateful night when I had a cold and went on a coughing jag...not a pretty sight! I went places in that computer that I had not seen before nor again. Computer was never the same after that. <g>
So, if you are trying to type out what is being said on the scanner, doubt that you will have much luck with that.
If you are trying to dictate labels for the freqs that you enter, I would encourage you to try EZ Grab in FreeSCAN.
Hope this gives you some feedback and maybe some ideas IF I got anywhere close to answering what you're trying to do.
Tom
