In my case anyway, GPS coordinate and range info is not translating correctly from Freescan to my 396XT. Unfortunately I discovered this after hours of work in preparation for a road trip tomorrow.

For example, I have Freescan set for a conventional group for the following:

41.474600 N
71.065300 W
46 mile range

When I view the group in the 396XT it reads:

41.796110 N
71.114722 W
4 mile range

This seems to have happened to all conventional group coordinates I have entered. Trunked site coordinates are bad also, but the range seems to have worked. Same with trunked group settings. Coordinates bad, ranges ok.

Update: Freescan will not allow me to save the format as DMS under the "Setup Scanner Options" selection. Once I manually switched the scanner to that format after upload the coordinates seem to be ok. However, the ranges on most systems are still off.

If I check off the use DMS instead of degree box and click OK, then save the file, it does not save the change. If I go back into Setup Scanner Options the DMS box is unchecked.

ANOTHER Update:

In conventional systems with multiple groups, the range seems to multiply times 2 for each group.

In other words...

Group A shows 2 mile range
Group B shows 4 mile range
Group C shows 8 mile range
Group D shows 16 mile range
Group E shows 32 mile range
Group F shows 64 mile range

and then interestingly, each group after that is set to 0.0.

etc...

Setting the range on conventional groups is currently in a unique state under 0.8E, but this will be fixed in the next version.

The default way coordinates are shown in these scanner is highly confusing. If you select Degree Decimal, you get degree decimal, but instead of positive and negative notation that is used in other places such as planet earth, it shows you in decimal but adds NS and EW, misleading you think it is in HMS format. So I can understand your confusion. The coordinates do get uploaded and downloaded correctly though. Selecting between DMS and DEG will change what is shown on the display but functionally it is the same.

I'll take a look into the issue of the DMS settings not being saved.
